Looking back from then to now, it is remarkable to see how far we’ve come together, as our renewed building takes shape.
The transformation of our renewed building continues to manifest in wonderful ways. Spring has sprung on our green roof for the very first time, with new plants taking root. Soon these large green patches will promote energy efficiency in our renewed building, keeping it cooler in summer and warmer in winter, as well as improving air quality and reducing the urban heat island effect that compounds climate change.
In the McIntyre Gymnasium, there are lights installed, and one day soon we will turn them on for the very first time. In the Withrow Auditorium, the undulating masonry block walls that will help make for exceptional acoustics, are nearly finished. In the renewed classrooms of the old building, the ceiling grids and light fixtures are in place, and windows that look out onto the atrium are being installed.
We’ve come so far together, and our building will be ready, but one more challenge lies ahead. Before students return to the classrooms, science labs and art rooms, they will need furniture and equipment that will make our renewed building a world-class institution, inside and out. With your support, UTS will become the school we always dreamed we could be.
It’s beginning to look a lot like spring on our new green roof.
