Felicia Chiu ’96 hopes that the UTS she thinks of so fondly will thrive for generations to come in our renewed building.
“UTS provided rigorous academics, and so much more,” says Felicia, who has been a loyal donor over the past 20 years and a Building the Future campaign regional volunteer for San Francisco. “We were given the space and opportunity to pursue and explore so many different things from athletics to theatre to music to winter outdoor education.”
At UTS, Felicia felt comfortable being herself and being unique, surrounded by diverse peers from all over the city. “People had a lot of humility and a lack of entitlement and you were encouraged to think for yourself.”
She feels UTS gave her a great foundation for her studies at the University of Pennsylvania and beyond. Today, her work as Director of Public Equities and Fixed Income for the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation embodies the socially responsible ethos of our school. Many of Felicia’s UTS friends have pursued amazing and different careers, she says, proof positive that our school encourages students to embrace a wide spectrum of possibilities.
As our school embarks on a new era with our renewed building, Felicia hopes UTS students of the future will continue to enjoy the same breadth of experience that she did, inspired by their unique peers and amazing teachers.
