Fall is the season of the mind. The halls at UTS are abuzz with that back-to-school excitement. There’s something new in the air, a heady anticipation of greater things to come. This is the year! We will finally return home this November, back at last to our historic, renewed school at 371 Bloor Street West, better than ever.
Brick by brick, we are finishing this foundation for the future of our school. Every day, the sleek, white brick veneer rises higher, creating an inspiring and distinctive façade for our school that melds the new seamlessly with the old into the best possible future for our students.
The heart of the renewed school is beauty and light. A full wall of windows stretches alongside the library with a serene view out towards the park, where students will soon gather with friends. A light well brings natural light into the McInytre Gymnasium and the skylight illuminates the Fleck Atrium.
In the Withrow Auditorium, the stage, balcony and catwalks are in place. The ceiling is being painted and delivery of the acoustic panels that will help create exceptional sound quality is expected any day now. In the Jackman Theatre, blinds are being installed so student productions can adapt the lighting to suit the needs of the show.
Pristine new vinyl flooring continues to be installed, and lighting is underway, in the renovated part of the building. In the science labs, the equipment so vital to the scientific process continues to be put in place, preparing for that day in November when students will return to our historic home.
While the building draws closer to completion, students still need the state-of-the-art equipment and furniture that will finish the transformation of UTS, giving our students everything they need to realize their most ambitious dreams. The countdown to our future is on!
Brick by brick, we are building the future.
