You know it’s a good day when you raise 33,000 pounds of HVAC equipment to the top of our renewed school building – and that’s only one piece! Now all the heavy lifting of rooftop units, including the heating and cooling equipment, is finished. These energy efficient systems will keep our new building warm in the winter and cooler in the warmer months – imagine that!
Other exciting arrivals are the aluminum frames that will hold the glass panel walls around the library and beside the parkette, and the atrium skylight frame.
Inside, the ceiling boards and electrical work are done in the new Jackman Theatre, and taping and sanding are ongoing, preparing for the day when theatre students will workshop their performances and the UTS community comes together for events in this exciting, new performance space.
Roofing is nearly complete on most of the building, and work on the enclosure of the auditorium is ongoing. Elevator installation is underway, lockers are installed on the second and third floors, and tiling, priming and painting are continuing.
Overall, it’s beginning to look a lot like the school we always dreamed we could be – a place where the academic potential of our students is equally matched by the excellence of our facilities. Every day now, we are closer to the day when we come home!
The new Jackman Theatre is a free-form space with a flexible stage
and seating, two dressing rooms, and a costume and props storage room.
