Inside the renovated sections of 371 Bloor, there’s priming and painting, and lockers being installed. Outside, work on the permanent enclosure around the new part of the building has begun, with the installation of exterior structural steel studs that will help secure the masonry brick and architectural pre-cast concrete walls, which are currently being fabricated off-site to be installed over the coming months.
We continue to move ahead in leaps and bounds, not impacted by the current lockdown in Toronto. Masonry walls between the auditorium and the back of house are nearly complete. Inside the auditorium, the second-level slab and balcony slabs have been poured, while work is ongoing around the tiered seating.
Soon we’ll be laying the flooring in the renovated areas, while work has already begun on the ceilings. Some of the renewed science labs have been drywalled, sanded and painted, laying the foundation for great things to come in our new building.
As we continue to transform the rough edges, our gaze turns inwards to thoughts of our students, who will make this new building their home. We want to ensure they have the state-of-the-art equipment that gives them an unwavering foundation to realize their greatest ambitions, and feel secure enough to take those big risks that can lead to breakthroughs.
