The stage is being set for the next chapter in the remarkable future of UTS, as our beautiful renewed building grows more real with each passing day.
In the Withrow Auditorium, the structure of the stage is almost complete, and the next step will be finishing it off with a concrete layer. Groundwork is being laid for the mechanical and electrical systems. Off-site, fabrication of the 700 auditorium seats is just beginning. Soon it will all come together to create a home for mesmerizing student performances of music and theatre, as well as school and community gatherings and much more.
Progress continues to manifest in the classrooms of our existing building. Many of the third floor classrooms have new vinyl flooring in place, and light fixtures installed. In the art rooms on the corner of Bloor and Huron, workers are installing shelves and cabinetry, as well as countertops where students will channel creativity into art.
Light is filtering in through the newly installed sky light in the Fleck Atrium, and also into the library through the new glass curtain wall. In the McIntyre Gym, light fixtures are now in place, as is a glass wall to the lobby bringing natural light into the gym.
Together, we are setting the stage for greatness, as progress continues each day. Soon there will be music and theatre, art and science, all happening in a world-class building on par with the potential of our students.
Before our students return the classroom, the renewed building needs to be outfitted with all the
furniture and equipment they need to realize their unlimited potential.
