The walls are freshly painted, creating a pristine blank slate for our future. The fully refurbished school is emerging, with beautiful finishing touches like wood shelving in the library and new display cases inset in the walls throughout the building, ready to showcase all of the student creations and achievements to come. Bulletin boards hang in the halls, the drinking fountains have running water, and lighting is now operational on the second and third floors of our renewed home.
Power is now on permanently in the McIntyre Gymnasium and Ridley Fitness Centre. In the Gymnasium, levelling is underway in preparation for laying the floor, and wall mounts are affixed for the basketball boards and nets to come. One day soon, the scoreboard will arrive and be hoisted up, ready for all of the epic games in our future.
In the Jackman Theatre, the flooring is done, and it is easy to imagine how students will dance and bring drama to life in this versatile performance space.
And then there’s the furniture. The U of T Upper FEUT Gym has been transformed into a furniture assembly line. Already, many classrooms have desks and chairs, and benches are lying in wait in the science labs, for the day our students come home.
Can you feel it? We’ve come so far. We’re nearly there and ever so close to our new beginning in our beautiful, new home. We know that one day, very soon, our students will walk across the threshold of our school for the first time, and embark on that wonderful, new future that we, as a community, have built together.
