The renewed school is taking shape, looking more and more like a real building, where students will learn, grow and expand their potential. You can imagine the sounds of student laughter rising through the art rooms, where drywall is underway, or the echo of a basketball bouncing on the gym floor.
The structural concrete is nearly finished, the tower crane is leaving, and next week, we expect an exciting delivery: structural steel beams for the gym. Having received the green light for HVAC and plumbing, the underground plumbing is ongoing in the basement. Recently installed on the existing building roof is the mechanical platform, ready and waiting to support a roof-top HVAC system and generator. In the courtyard, structural steel is taking shape, and by next week both atrium staircases will be underway.
Throughout it all, Eastern Construction workers continue to follow very specific COVID-19 protocols to keep everyone safe. And of course, extra handwashing stations have been installed throughout.
The plan is to open 371 Bloor as soon as possible during the fall of 2021. We can hardly wait!
Congratulations to the crew!
Congratulations to the Eastern crew on being recognized for 100,000 hours worked on our new school building without any lost time injuries. We are so excited to see the incredible work you are doing to make our future home a reality!
