David Graham’s time at UTS was the launching point for a rich life and a varied and successful career. A former School Captain, David would go on to found a plastics manufacturing company, develop and preserve farmlands and support numerous community projects.
David and Marty, who met as teenagers and thus shared a familiarity and appreciation for UTS, also sent three of their children to the school. Sons Ian Graham and David Graham Jr. graduated in 1973 and 1976, respectively, and daughter Laurie Graham was part of the first UTS graduating class to include female students in 1978.
David passed away in late September and his loss is felt deeply by the UTS community. David and Marty did, however, leave a lasting gift to UTS by becoming the first Founders of the Building the Future campaign. Responding to Jim Fleck’s article calling for founders in The Root, David called Jim and said, as Jim relates, “Great article. I checked with my accountant and I can be a Founder!”
