This fall marks a triumphant return for UTS, as we embark on the first full school year in our renewed home. On the first day of school, applause will fill the new Withrow Auditorium as the entire student community gathers in the heart of the renewed school to welcome new F1 (Grade 7) students with a standing ovation, upholding the longstanding UTS tradition.
Our new home is mostly done, with just a few final touches taking place. The seats are unwrapped in the new Withrow Auditorium, ready to be used. Audio-visual and enhanced lighting in the Withrow Auditorium and Jackman Theatre are still to come, as well as curtains.
Inside the school, digital bulletin boards are being installed to keep students up-to-date on all the incredible plans and activities to come. There will also be some old-fashioned bulletin boards, soon to be adorned with student creations.
Outside the school, the landscapers have been busy. Today they transformed patches of earth to verdant green grass, rolling out the sod, and even watered the grass for the first time. The stone plaza has beautiful curved wooden benches and at lunch teachers gathered together enjoying the community spaces as they prepared for the fall. It looks like home.
The next chapter of UTS begins now. And you’re invited to come home to see it all on Saturday September 17 at the UTS Homecoming event. In all the history of UTS, it’s going to be a day to remember. You’re invited to come share the experience with us and celebrate the future of UTS. Thanks to your support, it’s going to be incredible!
